Why I chose to do an apprenticeship with the FCDO Prior to joining FCO in 2019, I have been applying to join the Civil Service for more than three years and on countless occasions I was unsuccessful. For me, an apprenticeship at the FCDO offered the opportunity to take advantage of the theoretical knowledge I gained at university, and […]

In contributing to the Government’s goal of 3 million apprenticeships by 31 March 2021, the FCDO is committed to developing our Apprenticeship Programme. In 2020, we recruited for apprentices in Business Administration, Communications and our newest apprenticeship, Economics. We now have apprentices on 10 different programmes across the FCDO, including Finance apprenticeships that offer professional Accountancy qualifications.

In 2021, we aim to further increase the number of apprentices in our workforce. When available, opportunities will be advertised through FCDO-led external recruitment on Civil Service Jobs and via Government Apprenticeship Schemes such as the Government Economics Service.
