Alex Brooks is Secretary for Asia-Pacific, Foreign & Security Policy Group at the British Embassy in Washington. He covers US policy on the region as a member of the Group’s Asia team. He has lead geographic responsibility for north-east Asia ex-China; Burma; the East and South China Seas; and the Pacific Islands; and a pan-regional thematic focus on prosperity and trade issues, and Emerging Powers.

Alex joined the Embassy in August 2013. He came to Washington following three years working at the British Embassy in Belgrade, holding a dual role as Director of Trade and Investment and Deputy Head of the political team. Prior to that, he held roles in the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London: in the Europe Directorate as Economist and EU Economic and Financial Policy Officer; and in the Economics Group as Economist for Latin America and Turkey.
