Floods in Romania
Dear friends,
You may have heard about the recent devastating floods affecting Romania. This is not news anymore, as various regions of the country have been hit by floods or otherwise extreme drought in the last 3 or 4 years – what more compelling argument do we need to really focus on the effects of climate change?
On this ocassion I’d just like to say that Habitat for Humanity, an NGO with whom we worked to build houses for the poor in NW Romania last autumn, is now rolling out a nation-wide campaign to help those affected by the recent floods. Their aim is to support 400 disadvantaged families hit by the floods and also offer counselling, technical assistance and support for the reconstruction, management and distribution of materials for other 3000 families.
