Knowledge to Action: Exploring Opportunities for UK-Canada HIV/AIDS Research Collaboration
Amy Day, our Media, Policy & Public Affairs Officer from the British Consulate General in Vancouver, was kind enough to put together a note for us on the UK/Canada HIV/AIDS workshop that Paolo was working on with University College London and University of British Columbia (UBC). From all accounts the event ran smoothly and everyone seemed happy with the outcomes thus far. Here’s what Amy put together for us:

On Feb 24th & 25th the British Consulate General Vancouver through the UK Science and Innovation Network (Canada), and in collaboration with UBC, the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and University College London, successfully brought together over 20 lead researchers in the field of HIV/AIDS for a two day workshop in Vancouver, Canada. The workshop was hosted by world renowned HIV/AIDS researcher and Director of the BC-CfE, Dr. Julio Montaner. Experts from both University College London and the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS discussed their current work and future priorities spanning basic laboratory science, population health science and clinical trials in the field of HIV/AIDS. This workshop set the stage for participants to establish new collaborative opportunities with the mutual goal of addressing the major challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
