From smart grids to zoom cars | UK’s innovative companies visit India
Hello readers! Following from my earlier post on the UK Innovation is GREAT showcase event; here is an update on some of the UK companies that will be speaking at the event. As mentioned in my earlier post, the event is designed to enable R&D intensive businesses in India to hear experiences and network with the visiting UK delegation – creating opportunities for joint collaboration.
Plessey are leading experts in the development and manufacture of semiconductor products used in sensing, measurement and control applications. Plessey’s products are found in a wide range of markets including communications,manufacturing, medical, defence and aerospace. Steve Cliffe has more than 25 years’ experience in the electronics industry with significant exposure to global markets and joined Plessey from eoSemi where he was VP Sales & Marketing.
Cyan provides innovative solutions that reduce energy consumption for the utility and lighting markets. Cyan’s core technology is a platform for the rapid and cost effective deployment of smart grid metering and energy efficient lighting. This includes robust wireless mesh networking software for scalable and secure communication with remote units and enterprise software for full end-to-end system integration. Shiv Kaushik manages Cyan Technology’s business in the Indian Energy and Utility markets.
Permasense® is the world leader in the field of continuous corrosion monitoring, providing real-time data-to-desk measurement of pipe wall thicknesses in inhospitable and inaccessible environments. Permasense systems are a key enabler in assuring pipeline, vessel and equipment integrity, while improving safety by reducing inspection personnel exposure to hazards such as high temperature metalwork, or such as in elevated or offshore locations. Sameer Pal drives business development and sales activities for Permasense. His speciality is in commercialising engineering technologies with technology-led competitive advantage which have global applications across major industries. Key industries of focus are the Oil and Gas and the AEC markets.

David has previously worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co and as an investment manager at Goldman Sachs. He is also the editor of 365 Of the Wittiest, Most Cutting Insults from History, a page-a-day desk calendar sold to Barnes & Noble Publishing. It features the insults from the likes of Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, Voltaire, and even Gandhi!
