India-UK IP framework now available

The new India-UK Intellectual Property (IP) Toolkit has been launched and all of the documents are available here. Details on our journey to this launch are available on my earlier blog.

The aim of this toolkit is to provide guidance and examples of agreements to support IP negotiations in bilateral R&D partnerships. This is an amazing resource, full of information and key issues which should help to keep any IP negotiations on track as well as provide the backbone of an agreement.

Each example agreement can be tailored to your specific situation, helped by the fact that many of the clauses come with an explanation, so if you’ve ever wondered what the difference is between an exclusive, non-exclusive and sole licence, this toolkit will explain all.

The launch event was a great success, thanks to the hard work of our IP attaché, Anshika Jha. Anshika, who is the UK IPO’s representative in Delhi, ensured that the event was attended by a broad spectrum of interested parties, including government, industry and academia from both UK and India.  It was great to hear words of encouragement from Andrew Jackson, Counsellor Knowledge Economy, Mark Sinclair, Head of SIN India as well as from Mr Varshney, Director at Department of Science and Technology.
