Wetting the baby’s head

When you are a long way from home historic events like the birth of HRH Prince George can take on a particularly special meaning. So many people have congratulated the Embassy for the birth that we felt we should do something to celebrate the happy arrival.

In fact it was more than just the Embassy as the local British Commonwealth Association also wanted to welcome the baby in a traditional wetting of the head. But we are very conscious that not all babies will have the same level of luck and love that Prince George will receive. We wanted to do something that would help make a difference for some of those children.

In Guatemala the government has a Zero Hunger pact to tackle the high levels of malnutrition in children under 5 (the 4th highest level in the world). Working with them we have identified the Centre for Nutritional Recuperation in Purulhá as the beneficiaries of all the money we make from the event. We understand that they plan to buy an ambulance which should help provide quicker attention to those in need. If you are in Guatemala on Saturday 24 August and would like to attend the breakfast contact us at embassy@intelnett.com.
