The Embassy team has just hosted the visit to Bolivia of Minister of State, and Minister for Latin America, Jeremy Browne.
Such visits are always valuable in our efforts to take forward the bilateral relationship, and highlight Britain’s role in Bolivia. It was the first visit to Bolivia of this level since Kim Howells visited in 2008. The Minister’s programme was wide ranging and full. I am delighted to note that it was also supplemented by a meeting with President Morales in Lima, where both were attending the inauguration of President Humala.
The visit helped to confirm that the United Kingdom is one of Bolivia’s principal interlocutors across a range of issues, from counter narcotics collaboration to climate change, and international investment to sports co-operation. Jeremy Browne’s video blog gives a sense of what Bolivia is like for a first-time visitor. There is plenty for this Embassy to follow up after the visit. I look forward to Jeremy Browne visiting again soon.
