They’re back! The 2013 Collaboration Development Awards!

The Science and Innovation team in Canada is very happy to announce the launch of this year’s Collaboration Development Awards! This award aims to help researchers to establish collaborative projects between Canada and the UK by contributing funds for travel that facilitate face-to-face meetings.

“… the trip allowed discussions with colleagues at both the University of Manitoba and at Public Health Ontario. These represented an added bonus and were hugely rewarding, building professional relationships that are also likely to lead to future collaborations.”

Last year we had such an impressive amount of high quality applications that we are piloting an expansion of the programme this year, with the possibility of funding up to 12 high quality projects. Each award is valued at £1250 (approx CAN$ 2000) each so scientists, engineers, academic leaders and innovation experts can travel abroad for short visits to lay the groundwork for collaborative efforts.

The Collaboration Development Award (CDA) should help advance long-term projects that deliver concrete outcomes, develop institutional links, and work towards international research priorities. We welcome all applications with for strong collaborative projects, especially those focused on the 8 GREAT Technologies and building on existing agreements/ relationships such as the Canada/UK Joint Declaration, Joint Innovation Statement, and Polar Research MoU.

The Collaboration Development Awards are funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Superfund.

For details on how to apply, check out the application form or email UKCanada.CDA@fco.gov.uk.
