Amy Day, our Media, Policy & Public Affairs Officer from the British Consulate General in Vancouver, was kind enough to put together a note for us on the UK/Canada HIV/AIDS workshop that Paolo was working on with University College London and University of British Columbia (UBC). On Feb 24th & 25th the British Consulate General Vancouver through the UK Science and Innovation Network (Canada), and in collaboration with UBC, the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS and University College London, successfully brought together over 20 lead researchers in the field of HIV/AIDS for a two day workshop in Vancouver, Canada. The workshop was hosted by world renowned HIV/AIDS researcher and Director of the BC-CfE, Dr. Julio Montaner. Experts from both University College London and the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS discussed their current work and future priorities spanning basic laboratory science, population health science and clinical trials in the field of HIV/AIDS. This workshop set the stage for participants to establish new collaborative opportunities with the mutual goal of addressing the major challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
