My pick of Govt. priorities in 2013

Shortly after the Romanian Government presented its programme I tweeted on @HMAMartinHarris my pick of the top five priorities to be taken forward in 2013. In five tweets:

1. Implementing the IMF agreement. RO has done well on fiscal consolidation. Now it’s time to progress on structural reforms and tax evasion.

2. Judicial reform. Implementing the 4 codes will transform the business environment and make justice predictable and accessible for everyone.

3. Digital agenda. Bringing govt services online and putting court verdicts on the internet will make public services efficient and accountable.

4. Absorbing EU funds is vital for economic growth, eg the ELI project would put Romania at the forefront of European research and innovation.

5. Cultural Heritage Code. Romania’s culture is Europe’s heritage. It must be preserved before it’s too late.
