A preview of CSPC 2012

The 4th Canadian Science Policy Conference (CSPC), subtitled Building Bridges for the Future of Science Policy, will take place in Calgary between 5 and 7 November 2012.

We have excellent UK representation this year, with speakers in two panels and SIN Officers in attendance:

The Fundamental Research as a Driver for Long-Term Canadian Innovation panel will feature Tony McBride, Executive Director of the Royal Society’s Science Policy Centre. He will be speaking on UK efforts to preserve funding for basic science in a time of great austerity, and how this helps drive the innovation economy.

The Marine Renewable Energy panel will feature Phil Gilmour of Marine Scotland and (to be confirmed) Garry Staunton of the Technology Strategy Board. They will be speaking on the marine renewable energy landscape in the UK, and how policy supports large-scale commercialisation activities.

If you’re attending CSPC2012 (and if you’re interested in science policy then we recommend that you do) and want to connect with SIN about collaborating with science policy experts in the UK, please get in touch.
