From Three Months to a Decade

by Paul Wright

Paul Wright is a British businessman who first came to Sofia ten years ago, only temporary, for three months. Ten years later Paul is still here and married to a Bulgarian woman; they have one child. In his #100UKBG story, Paul talks about Bulgaria and his Bulgarian life.

The simplest thing to say about Bulgaria for me is that I came initially for a temporary three-month trial period for work, ten years ago.

The country is a beautiful cross road of cultures with friendly, down to earth people (as long as they aren’t working as waiters / waitresses).

From the peace and calm of the mountains to the relaxing experiences at the seaside, along with the overall hustle, bustle and exciting cosmopolitan choices of restaurants and nightlife of Sofia there is something enjoyable to do all year round.

Since being here I have had numerous friends and family from the UK visit, and it is a testament to the Bulgarian experience that not one of them has only visited once, isn’t it?
