A powerful statement from one of my role models, leadership educator John Maxwell.
I was one of the approximately 1,000 people who attended his leadership
seminar in Bucharest last Wednesday, 23 March. A rare opportunity to
see (and shake hands with!) the author of many of my favourite books on
personal development.
I
hear often in my conversations that “we (Romanians) have the leaders we
deserve”. A depressing statement as if we have resigned from the hope
that good leadership is a realistic deliverable. And a sign that some
have chosen to remain in their comfort zones and let others shape up
their future.
If
there is one thing I take with me from last week’s leadership seminar,
it’s the process by which one can become a successful R.E.A.L. leader
- Build good Relationships (get along well with others);
- Equip/train/develop other
- Have the right Attitude, in order to overcome adversities and deal with problems. “Your attitude determines your altitude”.
- Lead.
I hope I can apply these lessons to my workplace and my personal life.
Do you know people who are strong leaders and who live up to the R.E.A.L. leadership principles?
