Public security exhibition, 27 June 2013

We are here in the Embassy today for a special event where we have representatives of the British security industry, presenting their products to French clients and looking to develop partnerships.  This is a growing industry,  which is producing products intended to help keep people safe, to help fight crime and terrorism, and it’s an area where British industry is one of the world’s leaders.

It’s one of a series of events that we’ve done on this theme over the last eight years, and so companies both in Britain and France have got used to coming to the Embassy, meeting each other and doing business together.

In a similar vein, we had two weeks ago a big reception here for the Le Bourget air show, where the aeronautical industries in Britain and France and the whole of Europe were together for the air show. We had an evening here to put together people who are in the same sector, looking for clients and partnerships,  wanting to celebrate being in Paris together.

And I’m glad to say that it was a highly successful week, not least for Airbus (many Airbus aircrafts powered by Rolls Royce engines were sold during the Le Bourget air show) and we were able to play our part in that here at the Embassy.
