Just hours after BA 2012 landed in Cornwall marking the official 70 day countdown and the start of the Olympic Torch relay round the UK the British Embassy was in action in one of Warsaw’s most prestigious parks.

Teaming up with the British Council at the Warsaw Samsung Run we enjoyed a superb opportunity to promote English language learning, the UK and the London 2012 Olympics to a large audience in the park and a broader online media network.

What a Great year to invite Poland to visit the UK. The torch relay tells a Great story of where to go and what to visit before it finally arrives at the Olympic Stadium in a totally re-vitalised East London.

Starting in Cornwall and carried by over 8,000 enthusiastic torch bearers to over 1,000 events all looking forward to a once in a lifetime global sporting extravaganza the torch was lit by a global sporting icon David Beckham at a special celebration with Princess Anne in attendance.

The London 2012 Olympiad set against the unique backdrop of Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebration creates a superlative occasion to visit the UK. Every region of the UK is rising to the occasion in tantalizing British style.

On a bright summer morning in Warsaw it was a pleasure to participate in the countdown to the world’s pre-eminent sporting event. The buzz around our stand, the enthusiasm of Polish torch bearers eagerly anticipating their journey to the UK and a full monty Great campaign set the stop watch going to one of the best shows on Earth.
