The Science and Innovation Network’s Annual Report, covering activities from April 2010 to March 2011 inclusive, is out! You can download and read the report on the websites of both the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, our parent ministries.
You can see a collection of photographs from the report launch here, and can watch the promotional video below (note: this will probably require a QuickTime plug-in – to download the actual video file, click here.). Look out for Dr. Nicolina Farella, our Science Officer in Montréal, at 02:32!
Canada makes a good showing in the global network, with highlights in the Facilitating International Research Collaboration and Influencing Internationally sections. To quote from the report:
With a broad overlap in R&D strengths, a shared language and a long history of cooperation, there is excellent potential for British influence and collaborative work in Canada. In particular, UK expertise in clean technology, aerospace, information & communications technology and health science could complement Canadian research priorities and investments well.
The Science and Innovation Officers across Canada will be working hard in 2011-2012 to deliver on this potential for closer working (some of which was mentioned in last week’s joint declaration). As always, watch this space for news of what we’re doing.
